This popular event was part of our fun Family Sundays programme held on the first Sunday of each month.
Downstairs in the Victorian Kitchen visitors of all ages could take part in "cornucopia" Christmas decoration making, a traditional Victorian cone-shaped decoration holding dried fruits, sweets or nuts, and upstairs in the Drawing Room adults and children alike were invited to make a Christmas or New Year's Wish card from beautiful images of the Mansion in wintertime and various festive craft materials. There was also a trail for the children, taking them all around the Mansion looking for hidden objects, with a tasty Christmassy treat upon completion. Staff dressed in Victorian costume and the sounds of an early 20th century church choir filling the hallways added an air of authenticity to the day. Much positive verbal feedback was received from visitors that had both been before and intended visiting again, saying how much they appreciated the variety of activities offered by the Mansion on Family Sundays and how surprised they were that there is something on offer for everyone, regardless of age or ability. All in all a very successful day!
