Journeys An Exhibition by the Valentines Mansion Studio Artists
Date: Sunday 5 July Monday 31 August
Time: During normal opening times
Age: All ages
Tickets: Free
Bookings: No need to book, just drop in.
During the summer months many of us are thinking of travel for pleasure; the school holidays lead us to journey to the park, the seaside, the continent and beyond - while some spend wistful hours looking for the perfect destination elsewhere online. Others take time out to reflect on their spiritual life journey, or the movements of the natural environments and materials they encounter.

There are, however, other journeys more challenging or harrowing, provoked by poverty, climate change, trafficking, conflict and politics - the estimated number of international migrants worldwide is now over 214 million.

In the face of this staggering number of journeys, this mass movement of people, art provides a creative space where each of us can reflect on our own personal journeys and encounters, landscapes and the movements of the natural phenomena around us.

Time: During normal opening times
Age: All ages
Tickets: Free
Bookings: No need to book, just drop in.
For many of us the dusty and tired-looking stuffed birds and animals that used to be the mainstay of small museums belong to a Victorian world-view of power, possession and destruction, best consigned to the storeroom. Yet these collections allow us to see close up and real the majesty and wonder of the natural world. Maybe we can hold both views? Come and see. This display will feature a collection of birds and animals in the Bird Room.
